Osun Crisis: Pro-Aregbesola Group Seeks Cooperation

By:    7:33 Pm, August 10, 2015

Governor, Ogeni Rauf Aregbesola

Omoluabi Progressive Association (O-PA) has called on the people of the Osun State to pray for a robust economic stature as it also seeks for the people's cooperation and understanding with the state government.

O-PA, a political pressure group made up of personal assistants and young professionals in the state made this appeal in a communiqué signed by its coordinator , Comrade Lekan Odediran after their activities to commemorate a year anniversary of August 9th, 2014 gubernatorial election.‎

The group also alleged that the incessant daily theft of over 400,000 barrels of crude oil, fall in oil price in international market and massive corruption and mismanagement of national resources during the PDP led government at the centre led to the recent economic woes in the country.

"The Ogbeni led administration has been transparent, open and forthright in spite of the current economic challenges and the governor is back on the strategic board to make life better for the entire people," it added.

The group however lauds the workers in the state for calling off the strike as a way of finding common platform to solve the financial challenges facing the state.

O-PA enjoined the good people of Osun to be wary of the campaign of calumny against the state by the promoters of conflict and chaos to score cheap political gains.

According to the group, August 9th, 2014 has become a day to be celebrated for every progressive minded person in Osun and Nigeria at large.

The communiqué read in part, "August 9 2014, was a day to be remembered in the political space of the country, especially the State of Osun. It was a day the common man's wish prevailed over crass impunity, harassment and intimidation.

"It was indeed a date with destiny for the progressives and its leaders as the day revealed that the then opposition (APC) can rise against all odds to wrest power from the unpopular power at the centre."

It would be recalled that a few days to the August 9, 2014 polls, there was massive deployment of armed security personal (Army, Police, Civil defense, DSS).

Armed DSS operatives in a convoy of over 30 vehicles took over Osun Communities, many of whom wore masks, fired gunshots into the air creating panic and commotion.

Many APC leaders were arrested, tutored and detained as this negates their fundamental right to personal liberty as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.

While appreciating the good people of Osun for standing by the truth and unparalleled development in the state during the gubernatorial election, the group urged them to continue to pray for the Governor, Ogeni Rauf Aregbesola in order to take the state to the Promised Land.
