The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yusuf, was absent at a summit held on Monday, to explore the ways to end the financial crisis currently rocking his home state, Osun.

The summit, which was organised by the Osun Legislators' Forum, comprising lawmakers from Abuja and the House, was necessitated by the inability of the state to pay salaries and meet basic needs, among other challenges.
Also absent were the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori; and Senator Isiaka Adeleke, both of whom are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
It was gathered that Lasun's absence may not be unconnected with the refusal of the state's APC Elders Forum to recognize him when he emerged as Deputy Speaker.
Lasun's emergence was against the arrangement of his party.
However, the summit was attended by the Governor, Rauf Aregbesola; former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal, Oluseyi Petinrin ( retd), monarchs and other prominent leaders in the state.‎
Meanwhile, a human rights activist in the state and Chairman, Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEO), Comrade Sulaiman Adeniyi, has asked Governor Aregbesola, not to be jittery over the petition by a serving Judge of the state High Court, Justice Folahanmi Oloyede.
He alleged that the governor is running from pillar to post because he knows that "all the information and allegation raised in the petition are truth and correct".
Justice Oloyede, in an open letter, accused Aregbesola of mismanagement and called for his impeachment. The State House of Assembly has dismissed the call and, joined by some eminent lawyers, demanded that the judge be sanctioned for breaching the code of conduct for judicial officers which mandates them, among others, not to engage in public discourse.
But, reacting to the Governor's position published in the media at the weekend that the allegations against him were baseless while taking a swipe at journalists for celebrating Oloyede;s petition, Sulaiman insisted that all the information in the judge's petition were correct.
The activist alleged that the state government was using all means, including engaging Mrs. Folanke Solanke, SAN and Professor Itse Sagay, SAN to ensure that the petition did not see the light of the day.
