Former National Chairman of All Progressive Congress, (APC), Chief Adebisi Akande has said that the increasing agitation and strike by workers in Osun State will worsen the economy of the state.

Akande however warned the striking doctors, lecturers and other unions in the Osun to be careful on their various agitations before the state government.

Akande said that the economy of the state cannot meet all the demands and agitations that the doctors, civil servants, lecturers and other organized bodies were demanding for.

He said, "When the economy is too weak to sustain Osun, the governor will go away, the commissioners will go away, all the civil servants will go away, all the doctors will go away, everybody will go away because there will be nothing to sit by anymore.

"I see a lot of boldness in the plan of the present government about Osun, the plan was very bold and commendable and if fully implemented can turn Osun into an Eldorado. Unfortunately, the economy collapsed along the line and if the economy collapses and you don't have a way of getting it right quickly, it might lead even to the merging of Osun state with another because when you are not viable, there is nothing you can do."

It would be recalled that doctors at Lautech Teaching Hospital, state hospitals and academic and none academic staff of the state owned institutions have been on protests and strike over some demands bordering on their welfare.

He added that the alleged missing 2016 budget was the fallout of the indiscipline that produce the current Senate leadership.

Speaking at his residence in Ila-Orangun during an event organized to mark his 77th birthday, Akande lamented that a huge document as Nigeria's budget could be missing in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

The APC chieftain said his party was mindful of consequences of allowing wrong people to be at the helms of affairs which was the reason the party wanted disciplined individuals to lead the Senate.

"Nigeria's budget is a huge document and one wonders how such document of that size could be missing in the senate. The development is fallout of indiscipline that brought the current leadership of the Senate into the position and as you know, that was not the choice of our part," he said.
Meanwhile, Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, described Akande, as a rare breed politician.

Aregbesola said the septuagenarian
APC leader was a top-on-the shelf politician that any nation can wish to have.

He said, ‎"An invaluable gift to the political class, one who leads by example and is worthy of emulation. Cut in the burning furnace of Awoism, the political philosophy of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Akande demonstrated that a
politician must lead by 'deed rather than by speech.

"He espoused those finest principles of Awoism both in and out of government, which up till today stands him out as a true politician from the multitude.

"He has proved to the people with his own brand of politics that Nigeria can still return to its finest moment exemplified by the First
Republic, when leaders didn't just seek political office for selfish purposes but for the love of nation and its people.

"Today, in Nigeria, politicians of Akande's hue are few and far between. We politicians that are coming behind should therefore seize
the opportunity to learn from this great politician for the betterment
of our political space."
