‘Regular exercise, key to healthiness’
The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, has said that regular exercise will reduce visitation to the doctor and keep the body fit.
The commissioner made this known during a cycling programme tagged “Park n Ride “organised by Ymedia and Global Brancom Limited in Lagos.
He stressed that exercise was necessary for a healthy living and reduced the cost of purchasing drugs to be fit.
He also urged people to embark on cycling as a means of exercise, stating that it keeps the environment conducive for living.
He added, “People should go back to their old days of living where bicycle were adequately used for the benefit of exercising the body for healthiness and fitness. Apart from making the body fit, it increases life expectancy. With exercise, you visit the doctor less.
“We are proud of this initiative as children and adults can come out healthier. One can use bike to move around in the neighbourhood. It has a very great advantage on our body and the society at large. The money used to purchase drugs and other medication can be saved for other things with the help of exercise.”
The Managing Partner, Ymedia and Global Brancom Limited, Kemi Olasupo, explained that regular exercise served as means of enhancing togetherness and happiness.
She said, “It is most interesting when exercise is done among family members. It brings togetherness and happiness that keeps the family alive and gives longer life.
“We are cycling today to create awareness for the people on the importance of keeping the environment healthier and maintaining a greater lifestyle.”
