Dignitaries Storm Oyo For Installation Of Gani Adams As Aare Ona Kakanfo

Dignitaries are currently trooping into the Durbar Stadium, located in the ancient city of Oyo, where the installation of Chief Gani Adam as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland is taking place.

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, had, last year October, announced Gani Adams, leader of the Oodua People's Congress (OPC), as the new Aare Oba Kakanfo of Yorubaland.

Among those currently in attendance are Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji; the Akinrun of Ikirun, Oba Rauf Olayiwola and Timi of Ede, Oba Adesola Lawal.

Others are former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao Akala, Senator representing Oyo Central District, Monsurat Sunmonu and legal luminary Chief Adeniyi Akintola.

Others also include Publicity Secretary, Afenifere Mr. Yinka Odumakin; Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan a commissioner in Lagos State; Elesie of Esie; Olupo of Omupo; Oloro of Oro Kingdom; Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland High Chief Lekan Balogun; Balogun of Ibadanland High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin and Iyaloja of Ibadanland Chief Isiwat Ameringun and Deji of Akure.

Others include members of the planning committee, journalists, youth organisations, security agents, members of the Afonja family from Ilorin, the 13th Aare Ona Kakanfo among others.

Vice Chancellor University of Maiduguri, Professor Abubakar, Professor Akin Alao from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, founder of the One Love family, Sat Guru Maraji, Sir Sina Peter among others have also arrived the venue.

Also, traditional rulers from Igboland and the Niger Delta, including their chief are also in attendance. Apart from guests across Nigeria, foreigners also made it to Oyo to witness the historic occasion.

Among other dignitaries that have also arrived the venue were traditional rulers, captains of industry, government officials from South West, leaders of various groups from the region and across the country.
