Sodiq oyeleke
Worried by the reduced rate of educational development in the country, the Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr. Bismark Rewane has said the country cannot develop without proper investment in the educational sector.
He made this known during a dinner organised by the Lancaster University, United Kingdom Master of Business Administration in Lagos.
He said deregulation of any sector of the economy without a corresponding investment in education will yield to nothing.
He said,"Privatisation if not complete will end up with a resistant. Nigeria lack proper deregulation policy result into failure.
"All growth will amount to nothing if attention is not paid to education.
"Instead of working for standard, we create additional body. The National Examination Council is created in addition to West African Examination council. We will hardly develop with this because it will keep adding fault to the educational system rather than stabilising it."
He wondered why the government expected an effeciecient education system, when it has created laws that did not favour it.
He added,"The economic model practised had too low entreprenuerial and investment activity. Deregulation in the hands of politician and driven by political consideration is a treat to educational development."
