Ooni joins Muslim faithful at Eid, urges hope

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country.
The Ooni said this when he joined thousands of Muslim faithful to observe Eid prayer at the Ile-Ife Eid Praying Ground on Monday.
This is the first Eid-el Adha that the Ooni would witness and attend since his assumption of office.
The Ooni, who expressed concern over the challenges confronting Nigeria, advised the Muslim faithful to shun all activities that may lead to dispute.
He said, "I greet all Muslims and thank Almighty God for sparing our lives up to this moment. I pray for peace to reign in Ile-Ife, Osun State and Nigeria. With today's occasion, I pray that the numerous challenges confronting Nigeria will come to an end.
"What's not enough will be enough, it is just a matter of time. We should be hopeful about the development of Nigeria. God will have mercy on us and ease our affairs."
Delivering the Eid sermon, the Chief Imam of Ile-Ife, Alhaji Abdul-Samii AbdulHamid, advised leaders to be mindful of what people would remind them for.
According to him, leaders in the country need to build a lasting legacy before their death.
"God created both good and bad persons. Whether you do good or bad, we all will die. Whether you are rich or poor; leading or following we will all die. What matters most is the things that we are reminded for," he added.
