NAFDAC seals pharmacy, arrests manager
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, has sealed a pharmaceutical distribution outlet, Anyiwest Pharmacy, 1 Meiran Road, Ojokoro, Lagos State.
According to a statement by NAFDAC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Anslem Okonkwor, on Monday, the agency also arrested the manager of the firm for stocking, selling and dispensing fake, banned and expired drugs.
Okonkwor said the agency arrested the manager and sealed off his the outlet following a petition by some Nigerians.
He said, “The regulatory officer of the Enforcement Directorate of NAFDAC, Mr. Garba Macdonald, who carried out the operation, noted that apart from the fake drugs, the pharmacy had Analgin injection which had been banned together with Tagaprox injection, expired Ferotone capsules and Flu capsules.
The agency said the expired drugs were displayed on the shelves.
Macdonald added that the agency’s officials acted to prevent the pharmacy from further endangering the lives of Nigerians through its wholesome activities.
