Non-Academic Staff Union, (NASU) of Osun Government- owned tertiary institutions have suspended their five months old industrial strike action.

While suspending the strike, the workers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the state government.

The MOU was signed at the Governor's Office in Osogbo, on Tuesday.

Among the provisions in the MOU, was that the government would pay the workers within seven days of resumption.

Representatives of the union in all the four state owned tertiary institutions led by the State Chairman, Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, of the union, Comrade Olusoji Fasipe, urged government not to renege on its promises.

He explained that the strike had been suspended in line with the agreement made with the government.

Fasipe said the union was always on the side of government, assuring that the union would support the Aregbesola administration in re-positioning its economy as it was faced with financial challenges.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola, pledged that his administration would not relent in its efforts to make life meaningful for the people.

Speaking through his Chief-of-Staff, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, ‎Aregbesola said that there were no plans of merging or scrapping any of the state owned institutions.

He described as a high sense of maturity, the attitude displayed by the leadership of the union, pledging that government would fulfill it side of the agreement.
