A wine made of Chilean fruits, Escodo Rojo, has organised a carnival to connect and celebrate with its customers during the Christmas period in Lagos.

According to the Managing Director of GDN Nigeria Limited, Alex Kothoor, the carnival was to appreciate customers’ loyalty in a cheerful manner.

He said, “The brand appeals greatly to the Nigerian customers. It is available everywhere because that is the demand. That is why we started last year with a carnival during the December period which is a festive period. We gave them materials to decorate their shops and houses for Christmas and gave them two bottles free in every shop which they are happy about. They are also given shirts and caps to make them participate and make themselves happy. This connects them together.

“We maintain top shares in the world and we don’t want to lose our values and also Lagos is always been influenced by Carnivals. So it’s always Lagos thing. Lagos has the kind of the carnival and Brazilian connection. We don’t want to leave it in the hotels, restaurants and official places alone we want to make the people happy. This will give them comfort in the brand.”

Also, Export Manager of the product, Thomas Frotte, said the wine was made with good wine making technique, adding that the carnival was brought to Lagos because of its acceptance in the state.

He added, “Escudo Rojo brings in some values like fun, conviviality, friendliness. It’s obvious that everyone wants to have friend and fun. And that is the purpose of doing this today. It is good for us have a good time all together. And that is what Nigerian people want. It is the brand of the Nigerian people. It appeals to everyone.

“Nigerian market is the first market in the world for Escudo Rojo. It is very important and this is where we created the success story for the product.  It was made with knowledge that few companies have. Great fruits varieties from Chile were used to make it. It has a taste that other wines hardly achieve with the blending of different grades of fruits.”

One of the retailers, from Sandra Associate Nigeria, who simply identifies herself as Mrs Sandra, noted that the carnival would increase the sales of the product.

“The wine is amazing. It brings a love story between the Nigerians. We love the taste and the packaging because it is a red label. It is very nice and this carnival will also improve the sales,” she said.
