He said that he was impressed that the pilgrims from the state were given adequate orientation, which resulted in the state not to have experienced agony of deportation that characterised the 2012 Hajj Operation in some other states.
According to him: "With the report I heard, you were about the best in terms of management and coordination. I also heard that Osun was clearly the most organised, the best behaved and the most disciplined delegation in the operation.
"One must commend the vision of the team that led the pilgrims from Osun to the 2012 Hajj for its foresight and the ability to pre-empt what would have been quite stressful and disturbing for our pilgrims."
In all, 1,065 pilgrims registered with the state pilgrim board out of which the state sponsored 156 pilgrims, local government sponsored 201, while 708 were self-sponsored.
The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Sikiru Ayedun reported that all the pilgrims from the state exhibited the virtues of Omoluabi during the operation.
He added that the idea of O'Clean was transferred to the holy land, as all the pilgrims participated in the frequent environmental sanitation exercise introduced by the Osun pilgrims.
The commissioner said Osun was the only state in Nigeria, which pilgrims did not experience any deportation, noting that this was so because the state government complied with all the rules and regulation of the operation.
He added that all the necessary logistics were provided for the pilgrims, which made the operation comfortable and exciting for them.
"I want to tell you sir, that with financial and other logistic supports available to the committee, it was easy for the operation to go on smoothly.
