Blame Jonathan for Nigeria’s economic challenge – Aregbesola

Thursday, January 21, 2016

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has described former President Goodluck ‎Jonathan-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a corrupt regime, ‎which caused Nigeria's current economic storm.

Aregbesola, who was represented by Secretary of the All Progressives Party (APC), in Osun State, Hon. Rasaq Salinsile, spoke at the 25th Iwo Day celebration, an annual event ‎held in Iwo, in the state.

He also called on Nigerians to be patient with ‎President Muhammadu Buhari as he found solutions the country's economic problems.

He said, "The recent revelation of former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo

Dasuki (rtd) claims that he got instruction from former President to allegedly ‎divert arms money for PDP's campaigns gives credence to the fact that ‎Nigeria was brought to her knee by Jonathan's government, the ‎cause of what we are facing today.

"It is a condemnable act which all patriotic Nigerians, regardless of their political leaning must condemn. How would a few individual decided to divert money meant to save lives of Nigerians to campaigns?"‎

He, however, admonished Nigerians to see President Buhari as a hope for a better tomorrow and belief that the present economic challenges would not last long.

Earlier, the new Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale‎ AbdulRasheed Akanbi, congratulated sons and daughters of Iwo land on the 25th edition of Iwo Day celebration and urged them to embrace one another in love for the development of the ancient town.

The monarch charged Iwo indigenes both home and in Diaspora on the need to contribute positively to develop its array of untapped resources, particularly the young ones which were on daily basis drifting towards wrong practices.

"Iwo land will return to its enviable height, if we all can embrace the cord of love, peace and unity. Its greatness lies in our hands regardless of our differences; let see ourselves as one" the monarch advised.

Salinsile, in his goodwill message also congratulated all Iwo indigenes for the year's celebration, and said that the event was historic one, it being the silver jubilee of the annual programme and the first time HRH, Oba Adewale Akanbi would be attending as the Oluwo.

While thanking the organisers of the occasion, he called on the monarch to remain focused and use his wealth of experience to bring development to

Iwo land and the rest of the state.
