10 primary schools get educational kits in Lagos
Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area has distributed education materials to 10 public schools in the council to improve their standard.
The schools given the materials, including First Aid boxes are Ireti Girls Primary School, Ikoyi Girls Modern Primary School, St. Gregory Girls Primary School, Dodan Barracks Primary School, Hope Primary School, Obalende Primary School, Ikoyi Primary School, St. Gregory Boys Primary School, Ireti Primary School and Jinadu Anglican Primary School.
The Chairman of the LCDA, Mr. Adewale Adeniji, who presented the materials to the pupils and head teachers on Thursday in Lagos, said the materials were distributed to improve the level of education.
He said, “The role of education in our society cannot be over-emphasised. This administration has rehabilitated and refurbished the infrastructure in some of our schools, provided West African Examination Council forms as well as Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board forms for our pupils, and hence decided today to distribute school kits as school bags, exercise books and rain coats, to all primary school pupils within the local council government area so that our pupils who attend public primary schools are in no way placed at a disadvantage compared to their colleagues in private schools.
“We are also distributing equipped first aids boxes to all primary schools within the local council, to support health care delivery in primary school for the treatment of medical emergencies as well as health diseases that are currently becoming issues of public health concern.”
Reacting to the distribution, the Chairman, Head of Teachers, Eti-Osa branch, Mr. Oladunjoye Olabode, said the provision of educational materials to pupils was necessary for the attainment of qualitative education.
According to him, the legacy of free education at the primary level is key to the development of the nation.
