Court remands woman, 9 others in prison custody over possession of Indian helm

An Osun Magistrate's Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Friday, remanded one woman and nine other accused persons in prison custody over possession of Indian helm.

The ten accused persons were: Omobolade Oke, 30; Ogunsesan Gbadegesin, 28; Imeh Essang, 25; Yinka Akinyombo, 20; Tayo Adeyemo, 25; Sunday Oriade, 24, Moses Oladele, 30; Bayo Adeoye, 27, Kareem Dauda, 26 and Wale Olagbaju, 19.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Abdullahi, alleged that the accused committed the offence on Sept 15, 2016 around 06:00 am in Ile-Ife and its environs.

Abdullahi said that the accused conspired within themselves to commit felony to wit; housebreaking, stealing, resisted arrested by the police officer at their duty post.

He added that the accused also conducted themselves in a manner that likely to caused the breach of peace by caused panicking to the people in that area.

The plea of the accused was not taken by Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, but ordered their counsels to come for their clients bail application with written application.

Ijiyode lamented on the number of hoodlums that are increasing daily, whereby people lives and properties are at risks, disturbing the citizenry in every nooks and crannies of the community.

He added that though the offence committed is bailable, called the masses to join hands together to sanitised the society, therefore ordered for their remands in prison custody for awhile.

Ijiyode adjourned the case till Oct 20, for hearing.
