Monday, January 25, 2016

Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has condoled with the family, friends and associates of the late Group Deputy Editor, Politics, of Thisday Newspapers, Prince Ademola Adeyemo, on his sudden death.

The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka, in Ibadan, on Monday, described the incident as disheartening.

He said that he received the news of the death of the veteran journalist with shock and disbelief, saying Adeyemo was a dedicated and hard working man.

Ajimobi said, "He was a shining star in the noble journalism profession. He was committed to the job, which has taken him to several state capitals, including Ibadan, his birth place. He was a positive influence for upcoming journalists.

``Prince Adeyemo was, no doubt, a leading light in the journalism profession in Nigeria. He was a professional to the core and had used his skill and dexterity to lift the profession and impact the society.''

Ajimobi described the late journalist as humane, kind hearted, humble and pleasant, stressing that his intellectual approaches to issues of national discourse had proved him to be a patriotic citizen who used his potential to promote an egalitarian society.

While praying for the repose of the soul of the deceased, the governor beseeched God to grant his family and the management of Thisday the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He also used the opportunity to advise journalists to go for regular medical checkups due to the rigorous and sedentary nature of their job and to ensure that they took days off duty for holidays on a yearly basis.
