Some residents at Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, have expressed displeasure that they were denied of potable water.

The residents, who spoke to our correspondent, on Saturday, wondered why it was difficult for them to get a drinkable water.

Among the areas affected are Oke-Fia, Asubiaro, Jaleoyemi, Gbodofon, Odi-Olowo, Aregbe, Old Governor's Office, Wole-Ola, Alekunwodo, Awosuru, Ola-Iya, Afonta, Old-Garage, Ayegbaju Street, Sawmill, and WAEC Road, among others.

The residents said that they had spent a lot of money on water.

One of them, Mr. Akin Gbemi, said, "We have to fetch bore hole or well water then boil to drink. Sometimes we go to another area to fetch water."

The Osun State Water Corporation alleged that the erection of a bill board had affected the supply of potable water.

The General Manager of the Corporation, Engr.Olugbenga Owojuyigbe, explained that the corporation had between the month of April till date, lost N16 million due to its inability to supply drinkable water.

He said a billboard, displaying Dangote Company products, erected at Oke-Fia in Osogbo damaged the 250 mm AC distribution pipeline of the corporation without any efforts by the company to repair it.
