Gambian varsity seeks OAU assistance on research
The
University of The Gambia has sent a delegation from Banjul to the
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, to seek assistance in
areas of academic, administrative and professional development.
The delegation, which was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammadou Kah, described the needs as urgent
Kah noted that the assistance was
important to put the University of The Gambia, which is about
15-year-old with less than 5,000 students, on a sound footing .
He said, “The immediate needs that
require urgent attention include provision of academic and
administrative staff at senior level cadre, ICT and some instructors,
chief librarian, deputy provost for our School of Medicine, medical
equipment, more teachers for the faculties of Arts and Sciences, Law,
Basic Sciences and Agriculture.
“OAU management should bring its magic
wand and excellence to bear on us so that the link between its
faculties, teaching and research, which is for real practical and
demonstration of what has been taught in classes can be benefited from.”
