Chibok girls: Ogun pupils call for intensified effort

While
the military teams continue their search for the more than 200 missing
schoolgirls of Chibok, Borno State, pupils and staff of Ceedar Wood
Academy have appealed to the Federal Government and Boko Haram sect to
safely release of their colleagues.
The pupils and staff of the academy, who said this during a solidarity protest, also urged Federal Government to intensify its efforts in ensuring quick release or rescue of the abducted school girls.
The protesters, led by the Director of Studies of the academy, Mrs. Peace Omowunmi and the School Principal, Mr Bayo Ogunjimi, converged at Unity Estate, off Abule-Oko Road, Magboro in Obafemi/ Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State to commence the protest.
They later marched from the take off point, through Unity Estate, to terminate their protest at Magboro Bus Stop, where a speech showing their solidarity for the abducted school girls on April 14 was read.
The protesters, who were all dressed in white t-shirts with the inscription, ‘Bring Our Friends Back Now and Alive’; ‘An injury to one is an injury to all’, and ‘Enough of the Abduction’ among others, also chanted appealing songs that could urge the terrorist release the abductees.
One of the pupils of the academy, Olawole Inioluwa advised government not to rely only on foreign partners, saying the Nigeria government should also explore all necessary local supports to locate the abducted girls.
The Junior Secondary School one pupil also urged Nigerians to pray for the safety of the abducted girls and stoppage of terrorism in the country.
“We are seeking the release of our friends who are abducted in Chibok area of Borno state. We must come together to seek the release of the girls, we must not rely on committee that have been set up and the international bodies who have come to help alone, we must pray for the safety and sound comeback of our friends,” she said.
Director of Studies of Ceedar Wood, Mrs. Peace Omowunmi expressed doubt that the abduction was more than politics.
According to her, every Nigerian must feel concerned and lend their support for the release of the abducted school girls.
She said, “In this challenging time, Nigerians must come together and stand for justice and equity. While people have their different views on politicising the issue, I strongly believe that it is much more than politics, I see it as a sin against humanity.
“An injury to one is an injury to all.”
