Unilorin to commence production of bottled water

To generate more funds, the University of Ilorin will soon start production of bottled water for public consumption.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali,  disclosed this on Tuesday when he visited the Consultancy Services Unit of the institution.

Ambali, said the university was already working toward  getting the long awaited ‘Unilorin Water’ out for consumption by March.

He added that the water would be of high quality and healthy for consumption.

Ambali  said preparations had already reached advanced stage, noting that efforts were already being made to meet the target.

He said the product  would be in both sachet and bottled forms, adding that  graduates of the university were expected to be employers of labour.

The vice chancellor urged the unit to look for professionals with degrees in entrepreneurship and also involve  students of the university irrespective of their courses.

He advised the staff to transfer the knowledge acquired  to students who had been voluntarily partaking in the unit’s  programmes.

At the Apiary Unit where pure honey was being  produced, Ambali  gave an assurance  that the authority would register the product with  NAFDAC.
