School organises art exhibition for pupils

A private school, Greensprings School, has organised an art exhibition for its pupils to showcase their creative potential.

The exhibition was held in Lagos to provide avenue for the pupils to display their talents, while parents and educators were allowed to assess the work and purchase them.

The Elementary Principal, Greensprings School, Anthony Campus, Mrs. Okrikri Magdalene,  said it was organised to give pupils a chance to showcase their talents.

She said, “This serves as a means to give our pupils the opportunity to express themselves. Many pupils can but need a chance to do that.

“We believe that children should be allowed to express themselves in a way that they know and love most.”

Magdalene urged schools to consider the development of pupils in their curriculum, saying this was the only way to encourage self reliance in the country.

She added, “We must develop a curriculum that will survive the creativity of our pupils. Education is not all about Mathematics and English, the creative aspect must also be properly built.

“This makes the pupils believe they can do it and also gives them courage to pursue their vision which will at the end make them self -dependent,” she said.

One of the parents, Mrs Caroline Adeneye, advised parents and teachers to dedicate their time in building the pupils.

“Creativity is the greatest asset a child can possess. It has to start from now because creative works are very expensive all over the world,” she said.

Another parent, Mrs. Dasola Koledoye, noted that the environment causes a lot of damage to children’s creativity. She said, “I am impressed to do this. Imagine if all the pupils in the country can be this creative but the environment does not give room for that. What they need to grow is not available to them.”

A pupil of the school, Kehinde Toluwanimi, said he was excited because they were given opportunity to express themselves.  “It gives us room to showcase our talents and prove that we can be more creative than the adults,” he said.

He urged that children should also be recognised in art and be given the opportunity to express themselves.
