Hon Herbert Adeogun, an Honourable Representing Ife Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representative, has distributed some relief materials to the victims of circumstances in Ife/Hausa crisis.
Adeogun, while handling the materials over to the leader of Areas community at Sabo area of Ife, on Saturday, said that what happened was saddened.
He clarified that the violence was not an ethnic clash, but misunderstanding between two individuals on sanitation which was hijacked by hoodlums and escalated to lost of lives and properties worth millions of naira.
He added that both tribes have become siblings, for Hausa and Ife had been living together in peace and harmony in Ile-Ife for the past 200 years.
According to him, federal government has reiterated his commitment to assist those affected.
He appealed to all and sundry to shun violence, for there is no gain in crisis, but all should "give peace a chance", tolerate each other and live together in peace and harmony.
Also, Alhaji Haruna Megija, who represented Alhaji Abubakar Mandagali, the Sheriki Hausawa of Ife, acknowledged Hon Adeogun, Gov Rauf Aregbesola of Osun and security agencies.
Mandagali lauded Senator representing Kano Central, Sen Rabiu Kwankwaso and Interior Minister, Lt. Gen. AbdulRaman Dambazzau for their good gesture.
According to him, there was no clash in Ile-Ife, but an attack on Hausa/Yoruba by thugs.
The Sheriki explained that many of his followers had their houses razed, properties damaged, secured injuries and even lost their lives.
Mandagali pledged that peace would continue reigning on land, called on governments, NGOs and individuals to come to their aids to reinforced them financially so as to reconstruct their damaged homes and shops.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the relief materials given to Hausa and Yoruba include: foodstuffs and some cash as basic needs aimed at easing the pain of the victims.
