Osun State House of Assembly wants Nigerians irrespective of religious, ethnic or political leanings to re-dedicate themselves to the cause of nation building.

This is contained in a statement on the behalf of the Assembly endorsed by the Chairman House Committee on Information and Strategy, Honourable Olatunbosun Oyintiloye to felicitate with Nigerians on the occasion of the nation's 56th Independence Anniversary.

The Assembly under the leadership of Rt Honourable Najeem Salam pointed that the anniversary though worthy of celebration also called for sober reflection and renewed commitment to the ideal of nation building.

According to the Assembly, the nation, more than ever needed to be truthful to herself in the conduct of governance and political leadership to be able to fulfil the vision of the founding fathers.

"Unless we are brutally truthful, open and sincere, unless we probe our thoughts and our ways, it would be tough to break out of the limitations and circle of under development ," It added.

Osun Assembly identified the need for proper and long term developmental planning that would serve asa  guiding light for the country to achieve the vision of the founding fathers.

It said there was the need for the citizenry to own the fight against corruption by leading as whistle blowers, as well as, stop idolizing corrupt leaders with honours and awards.

The statement maintained that the challenges faced by the nation is not only at the economic front, it required that the nation change its attitude by investing in the nation resources, through development of this potential as well as purchase of home made products.

"Essential components of Patriotism to re-build the nation is for Nigerians to dream Nigeria, live, buy and eat Nigerian products," it noted.

While the Assembly commended all arms of government for doing its best to salvage the economy, it stressed on the need for leaders to lead by examples, eschew bitterness, nepotism, blame game and other tendencies that may distract the nation from actualizing its set goal.

"Loyalty and love for nation must be rebuilt, we must inspire hope in the youths and citizenry at large and necessary sacrifice must be made"

The Parliamentarian noted that the nation will not get different result, if it continues to indulge herself in the old ways of mono economy, selfishness, waste and, hence the need to support the President in its campaign against corruption.


The Assembly added, "As a people, we must endure the needful though decisions that will re-direct the economy and actions that will steer the country out of the wood.

"Appropriate investment must be made in the economy, through infrastructural development, annexed other sources of income and conscious action for job creation."

It assures that with concerted efforts from all leaders of thoughts, and commitment to the right choice the efforts to reposition the nation will yield result.
