Students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has urged to ‎the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye to appeal on their behalf with the university management.

The students told our correspondent that Adeboye is one of the respected alumni by the univers‎ity authority that can intervene in some of the challenges they are confronted with.

Among the challenges listed by the students are poor welfare, suspension of activities of the Students‎' Union and some of their leaders.

‎The students under the aegis of Progressive Students' Agenda, OAU branch urged Adeboye to emulate Jesus, whose presence anywhere restored positive things.

The left organisation in a statement signed by its leaders, Ifeanyichukwu Chukwunyere and Emmanuel Ajiboye, "We the members of this organisation write to tell you that things are not going well here. We need your help seriously, in fact urgently. Just as the Bible teaches us that everywhere our Lord Jesus Christ went to, his visits were notable because of its conspicuous positive effects.

"We humbly appeal to you to talk to or in fact urge our University Management to harken to our demands. We strongly hope that you shall be a great instrument to this salvation we plead for."

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of OAU, Mr. Biodun Olarewaju in a statement said Adeboye would on Thursday (today) conduct a special Holy Ghost service at the new crusade ground, beside All Souls Church, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

The statement read in part, "The program is designed as part of the annual thanksgiving and special Holy Ghost service which the OAU Christian Mobilisation Committee organise to usher in the new year for the University community, Ile-Ife and its environs.

"Accordingly, Adeboye will pray for the University, Management, Staff, Students and entire University community; and also commit all activities for the year 2016 into the hand of God."
It was gathered that Adeboye would also be honoured at the Oduduwa Hall of the University on Friday.
