N2.4m Fraud: Court Remands Fake Corps Members

Four suspected fake corp members have been remanded in Ilesha prison for allegedly defrauding the state government N2, 472, 825 by a magistrate court sitting in Osogbo.

The accused – Oyeniyi Kazeem Wale, Lawrence Akinwale, Kolade Oladiran Samson and Akinlabi Zacheaus – were remanded despite pleading not guilty to eight count charges slammed against them.

The prosecutor, Moses Feranmi, told the court that th‎ree of the accused conspired to defraud the government by forging Five Doctor's Corpers' letters of posting and identity cards.

Faremi also told the court that they presented themselves as National Youth Service Corpse (NYSC) Medical Doctors of the state NYSC batch 'B' 2014, whereas they were not and thereby committed punishable offences.

According to him, "the act contravened section 422, 467, 516, 108 and 509 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003 and punishable under same sections."

The presiding judge; Magistrate Olusola Aluko ‎asked defence counsel; Seye Oluyombo to file formal application for the bail of the accused.

The judge also adjourn the case till October 28, 2015.
