A human rights group, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice and Osun State Security Council have disagreed over the punishment of oppositions in the state.

The State Security Council had, on Friday evening, warned that it would bring all means at its disposal to deter criminals and outlaws, who may want to threaten the peace of the state.

The security council of the state ismade up of the Nigeria Police, State Security Service (SSS), the Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Air Force, the Customs, the Prisons Services, Immigration, the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

But the CHRSJ said that instead of concentrating on punishing the trouble-makers, and aggrieved workers, who were owed for about seven months, theSecurity Council should join the call for Governor Rauf Aregbesola's resignation.

The rights group also called on President and Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari and the security agents to call the heads of security organisations in the state to order, so as not to turn themselves to agents of political party in power in the state.

The CHRSJ's Executive Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi AlimiSulaiman, on Sunday, said that members of the opposition were law-abiding and were yearning for the aspiration of the good people of the state.

He said: "It is very amazing to hear from the security agents in that some members of the opposition, including rights groups and political parties are planning to destabilise and make the state ungovernable for Governor Rauf AdesojiAregbesola over the non-payment of salaries and monthly dues of workers and retirees, respectively for a period of seven to eight months."
