Outstanding Affiliation Fee Rendered NAFF Inactive, Says New President
The newly elected President of Nigeria Amputee Football Federation (NAFF), Sulaiman Isah, has vowed to facilitate payment of the federation's outstanding affiliation fee to the international body.
Isah said that the debt had left the federation inactive in the international body.
He noted that the federation was longer updating its membership with its parent body due to the indebtedness.
NAFF is affiliated to the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) through the Africa Amputee Football Federation (AAFF).
Isah said: "I am happy to be identified with the special footballers, under the auspices of amputee football.
"I am here to make amends and improve the present state of the sport.
"I might not satisfy all the needs but I have realised that the pressing one is non-payment of affiliation fee for about five years now.
"I will make sure that we overcome this problem because it has obviously affected players and made the sport inactive in the international body."
The NAFF president solicited the cooperation of all stakeholders in the sport to enable him to take it to the next level as well as restore its membership with WAFF and AAFF.
According to him, paying the debt will create opportunities for NAFF to enjoy various benefits from the international scene.
"Opportunities come up whereby trainings and seminars are organised by the world body from which our technical officials should benefit.
"I am here to serve and carry along everyone that shares the vision of moving amputee football to greater heights.
"Let's work as a family.
"Amputee football will be one of the enviable sports in the para family because we have appetising programmes for players and officials," he said.
Isah pulled eight votes to emerge the President of NAFF in an election organised by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports in Abuja on Feb. 15.
