Monarch Cautions Politicians Against Making Divisive Utterances

The traditional ruler of Epe Sagamu in Ogun State, Oba Adewale Osiberu, has warned political leaders to watch their utterances during political campaigns.

The monarch spoke during a  courtesy visit to Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, Oba Osiberu, ‎ in Oke-Ila, Osun ‎

He emphasised that the high political tension needed politicians to avoid the use of abusive words.

He said, ‎"Politicians should leverage on the shift of dates for the elections and make their campaign issue-based‎ and be careful of utterances that can cause violence."

Leading other traditional rulers including the Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Idowu Adeleke Basibo, the Aminisoko of Ifako land, Oba Mufutau Sani, and other chiefs, ‎the Elepe of Epe further warned politicians to exercise patrioticism ‎ and put the national interest above personal interest.

Also in attendance, the Diocesan Bishop of Osun North East Anglican Church, Otan Ayegbaju, Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye, ‎expressed love to the students of the Abolarin College founded by the Orangun of Oke-Ila.

In his remarks, Oba Abolarin expressed gratitude to his guests for the visit at a time the world recently celebrated love on a valentine day.

Also, Nigerians have been alerted to be wary of the agenda behind the poll postponement by the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) led federal government.

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Chief Yinusa Akintola Amobi, made the remarks while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, Osun State.

"Those behind the poll shift have designed it to make it extremely difficult for the contestants on the platforms of the opposition parties to continue to fund  ‎their campaigns because they knew many of them have been stretched beyond limit financially‎ while the PDP's candidate would now begin to spend 'stolen public fund' for people they have improverished.

"The PDP is creating a space to manoeuvre and in the few days ahead to lavish stolen money on Nigerians to lure and sway them to Jonathan's side when it might not be easy for the prudent APC to match them cash for cash."
