Don profers solutions for 'heightened economic stress'

A Professor at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Professor Ambrose  Anozie, has identified the establishment of private industries as the only panacea to economic growth of the country.

Anozie made the remarks while delivering the 271st Inaugural Lecture of the OAU titled: 'Creativity And Innovation: The Applications Of Thermodynamics And Synthesis Techniques In Improving And Creating Process Industries'.

He explained that any further delay in giving room for private establishment would "heighten economic stress' and restiveness of the Nigerian youths with severe security problems".

Professor Anozie asked the federal government to desist from using what he termed the traditional method of creating industries.

The method, according to him, has not achieved the desired results and subjected the country to continue battling poor economic growth.

He said, "Nigeria is capable of forming private sector project managers to create new industries.
The formation of private sector project managers to assemble industries in Nigeria will be very attractive to Nigerian and will be a step in the right direction.

"It will provide opportunities to create industries where the teeming graduate students from the universities and polytechnics can be employed."

He advised the Federal Government to embrace the creative and innovative method of integration of resources for job creation and industrialisation.

He added, "It is a well-known fact today that there is problem of hob creation and unemployment in many nations of the world. This is because employment opportunities have not increased as the number of graduates from universities and polytechnic increased.

"Unemployment is one of the problems any nation must tackle with population growth. This problem must be tackled not only by economists, social scientists, policy makers and analysts but also by process design engineers using creative and innovative method of integration of resources of a nation."
