Nigerian Newspapers: Major things you need to know this Tuesday morning

Good morning! Here are 10 things you need to know this morning:

1. The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha had on Monday in Enugu declared the he would contest in the 2015 presidential election, saying his victory was certain. The governor, who spoke in Igbo and English languages, said his victory at the polls would surprise many people, including the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

2. A suicide bomber on Monday morning killed 47 students and three teachers who were on assembly ground at the Government Comprehensive School in Potiskum, Yobe State. The bomber who disguised as a student detonated the bomb when he got access to the assembly ground, killing 47 of the students, while over 90 people were left injured.

3. Helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air force crashed landed yesterday near the River Benue bank in Damare, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Report says the ill-fated Helicopter had five crew members said to be American military personnel and a Nigerian.

4. The capital city of Abuja will experience serious gridlock today as the police has announced that there would be a major road diversion today following President Goodluck Jonathan's declaration at the Eagle Square, Abuja. All vehicles heading to the venue of the declaration would be subjected to thorough screening.

5. Report says more soldiers have vacated Adamawa state following the capture of another towna-Maiha by the Boko Haram insurgents. Maiha is the administrative headquarters of Maiha Local Government of Adamawa state.

6. Report says the All Progressives Congress is working assiduously to ensure that there is no disagreement or rancour in the party over the 2015 presidential election as it held a closed door meeting with all aspirants last night. The essence, according to report was to address all issues that may possibly lead to disagreement.

7. The Bring Back Our Girls campaigners have again expressed great disappointment over federal government's alleged poor handling of the war against terrorism. The group lamented the continuous capture of territories by the Islamist Boko Haram sect, saying it posses great danger to the nation's existence as an entity.

8. A Federal High Court in Lagos will next Monday, November 17, 2014, conclude judgment in a suit seeking to quash the ongoing inquest into the September 12 Synagogue building collapse. Justice Ibrahim Buba on Monday fixed judgment for next week.

9. The Defence headquarters yesterday denied a publication online that the family of the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh was evacuated by Airforce helicopter from his home town near Mubi shortly before the capture of the town. The army authority says journalists should be weary of some online media( not DailyPost) that are mostly not professional and reliable.
