Middlesex, Aptech plan to develop software
Two educational institutes, Aptech Limited and Middlesex University, London, have agreed to develop anti-security software for Information and Communication Technology students in Nigeria.
The institutes made this known at a seminar organised to enlighten students on the importance of securing a career in ICT in Lagos.
According to the Middlesex University Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raj Gill, the importance of ICT cannot be over-emphasised in any profession.
He explained that the planned software, which could help in tackling Nigeria’s security challenge, would be included in the curriculum, especially for those studying at Aptech.
He said, “There is no profession that does not use IT. Even farmers that operate manually now use IT. This may not be common in this part of the country. But the fact is that farming is no longer a home thing and there is no single profession in the world that can function effectively now without it. IT touches on everything we do because we are now in the knowledge age.
“This shows how important its knowledge is now.”
