Lagos State Government has assured residents and commuters the completion of the on-going upgrade and reconstruction of the Mosalasi-Gate-Ipaja Ayobo Road being.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Kadri Hamzat said this during an unscheduled inspection of the project, according to a statement on Thursday.

The road with 16.0 metres width was awarded to Plycon Nigeria Limited in a deplorable state over the years due to inadequate drainage system and increase in vehicular movement along the axis.

Hamzat however blamed the relocation of essential services, process of seeking Federal authorities consent, presence of NNPC pipe and gas lines for the delay of the project.

He said, “The over 7km road is the second phase of the reconstruction efforts that has seen the state rehabilitate Mosalasi to Ikotun through Isheri Round about.

“The project will finally link up to Ogun State through Aiyetoro Community, under the Phase III of the programme.”

While advocating support from the citizens, he said, “When communities do not pay attention but allows vandalisation, state resources suffer. We will again need to deploy resources to rehabilitate even when many projects are begging and competing for attention.”

The representative of Plycon Nig. Limited, Mr. Farouk Agoro, in his remarks, assured the Commissioner on the provision of access to communities by adopting a work plan that would not totally seal off the road.

He added that the completion state will be adhered to.
