Lawmaker lifts 75 indigent pupils with grant

The beneficiaries were picked from various schools in the Epe Division of Lagos State.

During the presentation of the cash support for the poor pupils, Ashafa said the gesture was in fulfilment of his promise to empower the poor people of the area educationally.

He added that it served as a pilot project for the rest of indigent pupils n schools throughout the senatorial district.

He said, “I congratulate today’s 75 beneficiaries and their parents/guardians. I urge that no matter how little this money is; let us use it for what it is meant for – to improve the children’s education.

‘During the health programme in Agbowa last October, I made a promise to support our children in their education adventure. The result of that simple promise is what we all seated here today to witness.

“Support in education has always been an integral part of our programmes. Just last two or three months ago, over 10,000 copies of exercise books, mathematical sets and rain-coats were distributed to pupils in schools in the senatorial district. This is not to mention the different categories of scholarships and various financial assistances that we make available to keep our children in school.”
