Stray bullet hits UNIMAID student as JTF, Boko Haram clash
A student of the University of Maiduguri has been hurt in an exchange of fire in the metropolis between the Joint Task Force, JTF, Operation Restore Order and Boko Haram militants.
According to the Vanguard Newspaers, a statement by Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, JTF spokesman, said the incident occurred at 5:50am on January 4 at Gwange, when terrorists attacked a JTF location.
The statement said: “During an exchange of fire, a taxi was caught in the cross fire. Unfortunately, a stray bullet hit one of the passengers who is alleged to be a student of University of Maiduguri.
“The injured student in the taxi was escorted to the University of Maidu-guri Teaching Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention and responding to treatment.”
