MSSN laments rate of corruption, injustice

Mr. Femi Otedola, and a lawmaker, Farouk Lawan
A non-governmental organisation, Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit, has lamented the increasing rate of injustice and corruption in the country.
A statement on Monday by the Public Relations Officer of the group, Mr. Sulaimon Alamutu, said the president, Alhaji Qasim Badrudeen, spoke at a fundraising ceremony for the construction of a 10,000 capacity multi-purpose hall at the Human Capital Development Centre in Epe.
According to Badrudeen, there should be a system that will compel leaders to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
He said, “The fact that evils, sins and vices have become the norms in our daily existence, corruption seems to be the only way out of poverty. Funds meant for the common good of the people are being embezzled with sheer impunity on a daily basis and the perpetrators confidently walk free.
“The Farouk/Otedola subsidy scam, power probe, pension probe and some others are examples of the level of degeneration in justice dispensation in the country. The leaders are greedy, wicked and merciless towards the masses.”
He noted that there was still hope for the country, provided that youths avoid being used by leaders for social vices.
He said, “However, terrible, worst and hopeless as the situation may appear at the moment, there is still hope of redemption for the nation. And this was our thinking at the just concluded 94th edition of the Islamic Vacation Course camp by choosing the theme; ‘The Glad Tidings’.”
Chairman of the HCDC, Idris Awwal, who gave the overview of the project, said the MSSN Lagos Area Unit aimed at constructing a world class edifice that would meet international standards.
