Commissioner of Police begs for patrol vehicles

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Musa Daura, has urged the state government to mobilise the police by providing adequate and serviceable patrol vehicles for improved performances.

Daura, who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Enugu, said the provision of the vehicles would ensure improved performances.

According to him, the state government is doing its best in sensitising the people on crime reduction, adding that the command still needs more from the government on mobility.

He said that there were many points in the state where policemen stayed for one or two hours a day on duty, adding that if they had patrol vehicles, they would help them to cover long distances.

``The presence of adequate and serviceable patrol vehicles parading the streets in the state will help the police to perform more creditably on their duty.

``Even if there are any bad boys that intend to attack, once they sight police vehicle they will have a second thought and run away,’’ he said.

Daura said that there was no division under the command with serviceable vehicles to cover its activities. He assured that once vehicles were provided, they would help to reduce criminal activities in the state.
