NGO to train youths on social enterprise, leadership
An international non-governmental organisation, Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa, has concluded plans to create
a platform for African youths to meet business leaders and successful entrepreneurs from around the world.
The chairperson of the body's 2012 conference planning committee, Miss Kalaya Okereke, made this known at a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday.
According to her, the conference, which has as it theme, 'Innovation and creativity for a better Africa: Implementing your dreams,' is scheduled to hold between October 4 and 7, 2007 in Lagos.
Okereke said delegates of the conference would learn about idea generation, refining and planning workshops, presentation to experts, networking and resource exhibition.
She said, "A total of 250 delegates are expected to attend the conference with half of them expected to be from the host country, Nigeria. Youths from all over the world will converge to discuss issues on how to overcome challenges to youth leadership and Africa's development.
"It will also focus on providing African youths with the capacity to not only contribute to Africa's development wave, but to ensure they develop home grown social enterprises for the benefit of the continent and her people."
The Head of Logistics for the conference, Mr. Francis Anyaegbu, advised youths to nurture their dreams and develop ideas on what they loved doing.
"We believe every youth has an idea, the only problem is nurturing the ideas. They will be taught on how to generate ideas through different case studies for further exploration," he said.
