FG declares Thursday and Friday public holidays for Eid-el-Kabir
Federal Government has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays to mark the 2012 Eid el-kabir celebrations in the country.
Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, made the announcement in Abuja on Monday.
A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Daniel Nwaobia, quoted Moro as urging Nigerians to pray for peace and national prosperity.
Meanwhile, the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Makinde, has felicitated with muslims in the celebration of Eld el-Kabir.
Makinde was quoted to have said this in a statement by the Conference Public Relations Officer, Mr. Aramide Noibi, on Tuesday.
The prelate, who called for a national conference, urged Muslims to positively reflect their beliefs to make life a worthy place to happily live.
He spoke at the 3rd Festival of Hymns and Songs of the Diocese of Lagos West at the Methodist church, Opebi Circuit, Ikeja, Lagos.
While commending the nation on the continued peaceful co-existence, Makinde warned against violence in the country.
He urged the church and the Islamic leaders to condemn social vices in the country.
