Police defuse explosives in Kaduna

The police in Kaduna on Tuesday averted a bloody Democracy Day when they defused two Improvised Explosive Devices at separate location in the Kaduna State capital.
One of the IEDs was discovered when a shop owner at the Kaduna State Transport Authority compound on Katsina Road raised the alarm about a suspicious polythene bag found at a corner of the yard early on Tuesday.
The shop owner was said to have alerted his colleagues to the discovery. All the shop owners in the premises fled the place and invited the police.
The police anti-bomb squad responded swiftly and defused the IED.
The second IED was said to have been discovered in a disused television set in another area in Kaduna.
No deaths or injuries were reported.
Kaduna has seen some bomb explosions in recent months. Also, the police anti-bomb squad has been invited on a number of occasions to different spots where suspicious packages were dicovered around the state capital.
In one incident, a policeman was blown to bits while rummaging through the contents of a package dumped at the foot of an electric pole.
