We Attach Great Importance To Africa's Needs – China
The Government of the People's Republic of China(PRC) on Thursday said that it would continue to attach importance to the needs of African countries, as China strives to reduce poverty globally.
Mr Chao Xiaoliang, the Consul-General of China in Lagos, disclosed in a publication.
According to him, the profound friendship between China and Africa
will remain unbreakable, whatever the situation in the world, or what
anyone was saying or will say.
"For China/Africa relations, President Xi Jinping once stated
that 'China and Africa are friends tested by adversity. Such friends
must never forget each other'.
"Let me say that the profound friendship between China and Africa
will remain unbreakable, no matter how the world may change or whatever others may say.
"As Africa's brother and partner, China will always attach
particular importance to the needs and interests of African countries.
"Let me also say that Africa is an indispensable partner in China's
endeavour to build a global community with a shared future,'' he said.
Chao said that President Xi Jinping had recently emphasised that China
would work with other countries to foster a new form of international
relations.
The consul-general said that China was working at building a community with a shared future for mankind, in line with her major-country diplomacy in the new era.
According to him, President Xi has so far visited 57 countries and
received more than 110 Heads of State in the last five years.
Chao said that the visits and meetings had deepened the world's

"The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has been translated from a
concept into real action and progress on the ground. BRI follows the
"Golden Rule'' of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared
benefits.
"More than 80 countries and international organizations have signed
BRI agreements with China,'' he said.
Chao announced that the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC)
Summit had been slated for September in Beijing.
He said that the forum would bring Chinese and African Leaders
together to discuss China-Africa cooperation in the new era and
jointly focus on advancing the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, also known as the One Belt and One Road Initiative, (OBOR), The Belt and Road, (B&R) and The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is a development strategy proposed by the Chinese government.
It focuses on connectivity and cooperation between Eurasian countries, primarily the People's Republic of China (PRC), the land-based Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB) and the ocean-going Maritime Silk Road (MSR).
The strategy underlines China's push to take a larger role in global affairs with a China-centered trading network. It was unveiled by Xi Jinping in September and October 2013 for SREB and MSR respectively.
It was also promoted by Premier Li Keqiang during the state visit to Asia and Europe and the most frequently mentioned concept in the People's Daily in 2016. It was initially called One Belt and One Road, but in mid-2016 the official English name was changed to the Belt and Road Initiative.
In the past three years, the focuses were mainly on infrastructure investment, construction materials, railway and highway, automobile, real estate, power grid, and iron and steel.
By various estimates, the BRI is one of the largest infrastructure and investment mega-projects in history, covering more than 68 countries, equivalent to 65% of the world's population and 40% of the global GDP as of 2017.
