NSE Elevates Tinuade Awe As Executive Director

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday announced the promotion of Ms Tinuade Awe to the post of Executive Director, (Regulation), with effect from Jan. 1.

The exchange, in a statement in Lagos, said that her appointment had received regulatory approval.

It said that Awe, in the exchange's revised organisational structure, would oversee the following teams: Broker Dealer Regulation, Listings Regulation, Market Surveillance & Investigations, and Regulatory Technology.

The statement added that the Rules and Interpretation and Disciplinary Units of the NSE would also report directly to her.

It statement said that prior to the promotion, Awe was the General Manager, Legal and Regulation Division of the NSE, in which role she also served as General Counsel of the exchange.

The statement also said that she served as Secretary to the NSE Council from January 2011 to October 2015.

NAN reports that the statement quoted Mr Abimbola Ogunbanjo, President, National Council of the NSE, as saying that the Council recognised her exemplary role in transforming its Legal and Regulatory landscape.

Ogunbanjo said that her passion, energy and commitment to driving and executing the exchange's transformation agenda had no doubt been instrumental in revolutionising the NSE.

"I am confident that she will continue to exert her influence and leadership attributes in her new role, for the betterment of the market and its stakeholders," he said.

Mr Oscar Onyema, the NSE Chief Executive Officer, was also quoted as saying that Awe's well-deserved promotion was indicative of the great career advancement opportunities that exist at the exchange.

"As we restructure and reposition the Exchange for the fourth industrial revolution, Ms. Awe's well-deserved promotion is indicative of the great career advancement opportunities that exist at the NSE.

"I congratulate her and look forward to working with her in this new function to build a globally competitive Self-Regulatory Organisation," Onyema added.
