Ebonyi 2019: We'll Not Support Any Candidate From Abakaliki - APC Chieftain

Chijioke Agwu, Abakaliki.

A stalwart of the opposition All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ebonyi State,Comrade Chinedu Ogah, has drummed support for the second term bid of governor David Umahi.

According to him, the southern senatorial zone of the state where the governor comes from should complete their eight years in office like the North and central senatorial zones.

Ogah, who was one time PDP youth leader, in the state warned against alteration of power rotation in the state in the 2019 governorship election.

Ogah, who spoke to journalists in Ikwo during the 72nd birthday of his father, Chief Onele Ogah , said  it would be unfair to disallow the south zone a second term in office.

He said: "We are seriously prepared for next year's general election, but what we are saying is that those people who are running from pillar to post that they are running for governorship post should stop deceiving themselves.

"To be very frank, we have three senatorial zones in this state; the North has taken its eight years share the governorship position likewise the central. Now it is the turn of the south. APC should zone the 2019 governorship to the south, we should slug it out there with other political party so that when the south finishes, it will come back to Abakaliki bloc and that is the North or Central.

"If any man is contesting governorship in 2019, he is trying to cause division and demoralize the youths. We are urging the APC to zone the governorship to the south. We should make sure there is justice at all time. Even if it is my enemy that is doing well for governorship, I will support him. My own politics is not all about party but performance.

"We will not support any candidate from Abakaliki bloc who may be banking on the numerical strength of Abakaliki bloc, we will not support such a selfish person for governorship next year. The south which is currently occupying the seat should be allowed to complete its eight years tenure by retaining the seat in 2019."
