Police arrest suspected killers of OAU Don, 11 other murderers
No fewer than eight suspects have been arrested by the Osun State Police Command in connection with the murder of late Obafemi Awolowo lecturer, Dr. Deji Adejobi. Dr. Adedeji Adejobi.
Apart from the arrested eight suspect, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mr. Kola Sodipo, said 52 robbery suspects and 11 murder suspects from September to December 2015.
While speaking at a press conference to review activities of the command in the last quarter of 2015, he added 18 vehicles; 22 arms and 37 ammunition among others were also recovered.
He said, "The command has been able to lay hands on eight suspects in the case of armed robbery and murder of Dr. Adedeji Adejobi, a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University and Abdulahhi, the street security guard. The incident occurred on July 14th 2015 at about 11pm in Ile Ife.
"The suspects are: Abiodun Damilola Jawefa; Adegoke Adeolu ; Sunday Okoro; Abiodun Ayeni; Faisal Musa ; Biliaminu Alasan; Sule Victor and Boby Eric.
"The suspects confessed that the beretta pistol which was used to kill Dr. by Adegoke Adeolu belongs to Abiodun Damilola Jawefa and Anthony Okoro who is at large."
While elaborating on the killing of the professor, he said the gang earlier snatched a Toyota Corolla at Ilesa.
According to him, the suspected killers used the snatched vehicle to trail the deceased who was driving home in his Toyota Venza , a sport utility van.
The CP noted that the suspects had been arraigned.
"The laptop computer of the deceased, phones and cash were recovered at Sabo Ibadan from one of the suspects, Faisal Musa, who is one of the major receivers of stolen goods," he added.
