Bailout: Osun pensioners allege govt of compromise
Pensioners in Osun State have alleged the state government of not fulfilling its promises with the bailout fund given to it by the Federal Government.
This was as the pensioners also faulted the proposed bi-monthly verification exercise by the state Government.
The Chairman of the Pensioners in Ife-Ijesa Senatorial district, Alhaji Sumola Odefisayo, said this while addressing newsmen.
According to Odefisayo, no fewer that fifty people had died while on queue for verification exercise in the past.
He, therefore, appealed to the state government to cautioned government against introducing policies that could have effects on the people.
"Several letters have been written to the EFCC, ICPC and even the Presidency on why bailout fund was not immediately used for salary and pension arrears payment but had yielded little or no result," he said.
Odefisayo appealed to Nigerians and the Federal Government to prevail on the state Governor outstanding pension arrears owed the pensioners.
Reacting, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, said Government had paid April, May June and July pension arrears to the pensioners saying they would soon receive bank alerts in line with the agreement reached with the labour union.
Oyetola said the state Government got less than 50% of the money requested as bailout from the CBN.
On his part, Secretary of the Union, Pastor Johnson Aluko, maintained that only Osun State is left in the southwest that is yet to pay their 142% increment.
