Students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in Osun State on Thursday, continued their lecture boycott over outage on their campus.
The students claimed that the state of power supply had been epileptic on their campus for about a month.
According to some of the students, boycotting the lectures is their own way of celebrating the adverse effects of independence granted to Nigeria 54 years.
The students had earlier boycotted lectures and protested on Tuesday.
During the protest, they displayed placards with inscriptions like 'BringBackOurLight and Our Education Must be Taken Seriously', among others.
It was gathered that OAU hostels had been in blackout for about 10 days.
One of the students, identified as Ola, said, "This is our own share of the national cake. We have been pushed to celebrate independence with outage and as a result, lecture boycott is inevitable. It is a celebration that will hardly be forgotten. I hope a solution will be provided to this soon."
Another student, Bisoye, described the boycott as unavoidable, saying, "We have no choice than to boycott lectures. How do they want us to study without light? It will be very hard for us to assimilate with poor welfare condition.
"Even when we were paying low fee, we did not usually suffer like this. It is painful that we cannot see our money in action. Our case here is that the higher we pay, the higher the sufferings."
President of OAU Students Union, Ibikunle Isaac, noted that several efforts made to amicably resolve the unstable power supply had failed.
