Travellers passing through Ile-Ife on Friday lamented the blockage of roads by soldiers.
Security men, our correspondent learnt, blocked the road ahead of the governorship election that held in Osun State on Saturday.
At about 2.00pm when our correspondent visited the city's expressway, vehicles coming into Ile-Ife were asked to turn back or park till after the election.
It was gathered that vehicles moving out of the state were thoroughly checked before being allowed to leave.
It was observed that vehicles with either state or federal government's stickers were allowed to move.
While some of the travellers were stranded, others were seen sleeping on the bonnets of their vehicles.
One of the travellers, Mba Akpan said, "This is annoying, the road should be blocked by six and not now. This is going beyond election preparation. What one would have expected is that they will search us thoroughly and allow us to go, but they are not doing that. They insist we cannot move at all."
Another traveller, who identified himself as Muyiwa, expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the soldiers, saying it was improper to stop travellers going to other states.
"I am not voting and I am not a voter. I am travelling to Abuja. They have no reason not to let us go by this time. This is obviously no longer democracy. My freedom is no longer guaranteed," he added.
