Alumni seek N1bn for infrastructure development
Alumni of the International School, Ibadan, Oyo State, are planning to raise N1bn for infrastructure development in the school.
Among the facilities planned for the
school by the old students are a multi-purpose hall, a hi-tech library,
and an e-learning facility.
Others are upgrading of the school
toilets; re-fitting and upgrading its water distribution system;
providing alternative sources of power; CCTV equipment; a school bus,
and refurbishing some of the hostels.
The spokesperson of the association,
Mr. Tive Ekpere, said the fund was for provision of a good learning
environment as well as to mark the school’s 50th anniversary.
He said, “The International School,
Ibadan, will turn 50 on October 14 and the alumni association is set to
honour this remarkable milestone with the homecoming of former students
and teachers now resident in different parts of the world.
“This is the first time the association
is having a grand reunion of this type on the school ground and it will
be one to remember for a long time to come.
“To this effect, the association has concluded plans to set up an infrastructure trust fund of N1bn.”
The celebration entitled, ‘Bring back the Glory’, he said, would commence in Lagos on October 6, 2013.
He added, “The alumni movement therefore
has resolved to assist the school to return to its position as one of
the best schools for excellence in Nigeria.
“To achieve this, the association is
collaborating with the school, its Parent-Teacher-Association and the
University of Ibadan.”
