I’m alive, OAU student shot by gunmen tweets
A Chemical Engineering student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Pelumi Taiwo, who was shot by some gunmen, has confirmed that he is alive through his Twitter account.
Taiwo was shot on April 12, 2013, along Ede Road, Osun State.
Our correspondent learnt that he was shot twice and sustained injuries before being rushed to the hospital.
It was gathered that his colleague was also abducted but later released while his car was snatched.
Taiwo, in response to sympathy messages sent to him, said he was alive but still in the hospital.
Through his twitter handle, @phunkmug, he said, “For you all who heard I was shot several times on Friday night that was me and I am still breathing. Thank Almighty God.”
According to a commercial driver at the scene, identified simply as Mr. Ugochukwu, the gunmen attacked Taiwo and a female colleague opposite Aderakin Hostel.
He said, “We saw a car parked here, while Taiwo was making phone calls. A female student was also moving towards the car. As she entered the car, two men just appeared.
“They pushed him(Taiwo) down and shot him twice. I heard one of them shouting – ‘Let’s go, he is dead’. They drove off the car with the girl in it.
“We quickly rushed Taiwo to the hospital because we found out that he was an OAU student.”
It was learnt that the abducted student was later released.
