‘Past leaders responsible for insecurity’
THE
General Overseer, Christian Ministry of Reconciliation, Rev. John Ogu,
has blamed the inaccuracies of past Nigerian leaders for the security
challenges facing the country.
Ogu, who spoke during the church’s
anniversary on Sunday in Magboro, Ogun State, described the insecurity
in the country as a protest against bad leadership.
He argued that Nigerian past leaders failed the country by not planning for the future and providing empowerment for the youth.
The cleric also faulted the leaders for not investing in education and other areas that could aid jobs creation.
He said, “Insecurity in this country
shows us the mistakes that leaders of this country have made in many
years. The rulers of the country did not have vision or plan that could
absorb our children that come out of the university by giving them jobs.
They gave education without jobs. They rendered the children jobless
and the effect of that is what we are seeing today – leading to
insecurity.
“What I see is that the insecurity
facing the country today is that it is a way for the young ones to
protest the lack of plan for them. The insecurity should gear the
government up to see that there is need for them to develop the
standards of our education to have peace, like other countries.”
