‘Bamigbetan’s kidnap, evidence of insecurity’

LCDA Chairman, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan
The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders has said the kidnap of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area Chairman, Mr Kehinde Bamgbetan, was an evidence of security lapses in Lagos State.

Bamgbetan was abducted last Monday and released on Saturday.

Executive Chairman, CACOL, Debo Adeniran, in a statement on Tuesday, urged the state government to tighten the security to avoid similar occurrence in the state.
He said “It is so disheartening that a council boss could be abducted and released at the will of the kidnappers despite the huge sum spent on security in the state.

“The kidnap and the N15m ransom paid before he was released, as speculated in some section of the media, shames the state government and its security operatives. It shows the huge allocation given to a mega state like Lagos, all in the name of security votes, is not yielding the desired result.”

Adeniran advised residents in the state to be security conscious, adding that the government alone could not solve the increasing challenges of security in the state.

“There is need for everyone to take care of their own security because the government, despite all the claims, have proved that they are incapable of securing lives and property.”
