Achievers varsity gets new deans
Olade, a native of Owo, in Ondo State, had his primary education at Holy Trinity School, Maiduguri, Borno State and St Patrick’s Anglican Primary School, IJebu-Owo after which he attended African Church Grammar School, Oka, also in Ondo State.
Olade, who is to combine his new position with that of Head of Geology Department, had his first degree in Geology at the University of Ibadan in 1969. He later obtained Master’s of Science in Applied Geology and PhD in Applied Geo-Chemistry from the University of Alberta Edmonton, Canada and University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
He was at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada, for his post-doctoral work between 1977 and 1978. He capped it all with a Master of Business Administration in Environmental Management at the University of Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
Between 1974 and 1984, Olade was at various times a lecturer, senior lecturer and Professor of Economic Geology and Head of Geology Department at UI. While on leave of absence, the registered geologist was at the Federal University of Technology, Akure as Head, Department of Applied Geology and pioneer Dean, School of Earth and Mineral Technology between 1984 and 1989.
He left for the United States in 1990 and worked at the Arizona Department Environmental Quality and as Adjunct Faculty, Maricopa Community Colleges, Phoenix Arizona and the University of Phoenix, where he was Professor of Earth/Environmental Sciences from 2006 till he joined AU.
The professor is a Fellow of Mining and Geosciences Societies in Nigeria, United Kingdom, Canada and USA, as well as a Registered Geologist and Environmental Manager. He has over 50 publications and technical reports to his credit.
Also, Solarin, a professor of Political Science, is an indigene of Shagamu, Ogun State.
